OXFORD BROOKES UNIVERSITY
London to Oxford : archive of books and journals
Oxford Brookes University Library was recently donated the archive of the late Mkhael Jackson, the renowned beer and whisky expert.
Commercial Transfer sequentially packed and unpacked the books and journals when they were transferred from London to Oxford.
RHODES HOUSE LIBRARY
12,000 volumes transferred : sequential packing and unpacking
Commercial Transfer was appointed to transfer all book stock, totalling over 12,000 volumes, from the Rhodes House Library to the new Vere Harmsworth Library, which is housed within the Rothermere American Institute in Oxford. Commercial Transfer undertook all the sequential packing and unpacking of the book stock, and completed on schedule.
ENGINEERING LIBRARY, UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
Interfiling : storage during re-shelving : ready for new term
Commercial Transfer carried out the relocation of the Engineering Library within the University.
Working with the library staff, all areas of the library were interfiled with new sections. Once the interfiling was complete, the entire library was packed in sequential order and taken to an on-site storage area while the library and the stack room were re-shelved. Then all the books were moved back and replaced in order in time for re-opening for the new term.
UNIVERSITY OF BRISTOL
Reference library : 5000 metres of stock
Commercial Transfer carried out the packing of all reference stock in sequential order and transferred from the Long Ashton Research facility on the outskirts of Bristol to a new storage location.
5000 metres of stock were packed and moved from the existing reference library site into a new air-conditioned facility in Bristol and replaced in order.
SCIENCE MUSEUM
14 kilometres of books : working in conjunction with library staff
Commercial Transfer was awarded the contract to pack approximately 14 kilometres of books from various locations within West London, including the Imperial College Buildings, in the Science Museum Basement. Working in conjunction with the library staff the stock was referenced, and transferred to their new facility at Wroughton outside Swindon. There it was off-loaded, unpacked and interfiled to ensure that the stock that had been housed in separate buildings was now in sequential order in the new location.
Work has been carried out over two phases: the first was completed in late 2006 and the remainder in the summer of 2007.
