Taking stock

Moving or reorganising can often provide a good opportunity to assess your current environment and how best to maximise valuable space.

Commercial Transfer can provide full audits prior to the move to ensure all your furniture, IT equipment and filing is checked against any proposed new configuration.

Despite the increasing use of technology, paper records still take up a good deal of room in the office environment.

File Centre

can offer either a complete off-site storage and retrieval service or, if you prefer, a combined solution for on-site/off-site records management. Visit the File Centre website.

IT Services

As most organisations today rely on computer technology, it is vital that accurate and detailed planning for any transfer of equipment is carried out to minimise the impact of downtime, which should be both detailed and realistic.

Depending on your requirements and in-house resources, we can provide a complete package which would include audit, decommissioning and reconnection of desktop and servers, peripheral equipment such as printers and fax machines, start up and testing, or supply additional resources to support your existing team. We can also arrange environmental disposal of redundant equipment (please see the Environmental page).

Furniture installation and/or reconfiguration

Skilled furniture fitters can be provided for any dismantling and reassembly necessary for any move, reconfiguration, reorganisation, new installation or temporary removal - for example, to allow the fitting of new flooring.

Working with removal crews and IT staff (if applicable) our fitters would position furniture in accordance with drawings and schedules.

Furniture audits can be carried out to ensure compatibility and quantities of existing stock to new layout. Furniture can be stored at our warehouse if required for temporary or longer term storage.

Packing/Preparation

We offer a full packing/unpacking service by experienced staff, for all packing requirements from general filing, to libraries and laboratories.

Packing crates (please see Crate Hire) and/or cartons are provided in advance of the move, allowing adequate time to pack your desk contents. The crates for stationery cupboards, storerooms, bookcases, racking and suspended filing cabinets are brought on the day of packing.

This means less space is taken up prior to the move, leaving walkways clear and alleviating any possible Health and Safety issues which may result.

Labelling

Correct labelling is an essential part of a successful move and Commercial Transfer provide a selection of up to twelve colours to assist with the movement and final positioning.

These labels are self-adhesive and are designed to peel off after your move, leaving no marks. The removal crew use these labels to identify each item's destination and when used in conjunction with your floor plans, they enable us to position everything in the correct location. Items not labelled are regarded as items which are staying and we do not remove these.

During the pre-move discussions, exact colours and the labelling system are discussed area by area. The colour of the label is usually used to signify the floor to which an item is to be moved, the ‘room/ area’ space can signify either, and the ‘position number’ should correspond with a numbered floor plan.

Building Protection

Preparing and protecting your premises is a responsibility that Commercial Transfer takes very seriously.

Building protection is installed on all floors involved before any materials or equipment are moved into that space, and to all vulnerable areas of your building, such as reception areas, lift lobbies, fascias and interiors, stair wells, exposed walls and narrow door frames.

Upon completion of the move, all materials are removed from the building.
